Joseph J. Hladick

Silhouette of Spinnaker, granddaughter of Compass 48" oak, acrylic

The artist, Joe Hladick, has been fascinated by the migrating whales that visit coastal Massachusetts since he was a child. Viewing the Right Whales in late Winter as they comb Race Point Beach and the Humpback whales as they return, with calves, from the Caribbean Sea is an amazing show! Some Humpback whales have been tracked returning to Stellwagen Bank since the mid-1970's. Each whale has a distinct "fingerprint" allowing scientists to track the migration and breeding of these magnificent creatures. I am combining my love for woodworking and painting to pay tribute to these individuals with my collection of "Stellwagen Tales."
